Hello everyone, just joined. Started my diet about a week or two ago. it was a drastic diet change and I already lost 7 pounds. I have heard that is common in the beginning so i'm not overly excited because i still way 158 lbs. Goal wait is 130 but i'll take it 5 lbs at a time.  I have been trying very hard to cut starch-carbs, sugar (fruit too) and alcohol.  Looking to gain advice, motivation and to bounce ideas off people.

Right now I'm trying to find a great work out DVD, specifically abs and legs. ALSO anyone know great moves to slim the love handle area?

Hi and welcome.

Why did you cut out fruit? The sugar found in fruit is the type that's good for you.

As for working out, it all depends on what you want. WalMart sells an excellent DVD for step aerobics that comes with a step thingie (don't know what they're called).

I've also tried belly dancing. There's a video called Bellydancing for Fitness or something like that (can't find what I did with it) that was made with two well known twins (Veena and Neena). It has one part where you learn the moves and is a great workout for your whole body. It also has a fat burning cardio session which is awesome.

But the best suggestion I can make is to learn to do weights as well as cardio (even better if the cardio is right after the weights). Don't worry, you can't get too big on weights unless you take sterroids. The great thing is, the more muscle you have the more calories you burn even when resting.

thanks so much for the advice! Im only cutting fruit for about a week or two to totally avoid sugar. Im doing the same thing with any starch carbs just to shock my system a little and boost my initial weight loss. My plan is to re-introduce good carbs, whole wheats and fruit sometime around the 4th of july.
